At Burgess Counselling and Family Therapy, we offer family therapy services both in-person and virtually to families in Lambeth, London, Ontario, and the Middlesex Centre. Our services are available in both English and French, ensuring that every family can feel comfortable and supported in their preferred language. Family therapy provides a safe space to address and resolve conflicts, improve communication, and strengthen relationships within the family unit.
Families might seek therapy for various reasons, such as managing conflict, navigating major life transitions, or addressing challenges like divorce, grief, or mental health issues affecting one or more members. Therapy can also help families who are dealing with stress, trauma, or behavioral concerns in children and adolescents. By working together with a trained therapist, families can gain new perspectives, learn effective communication strategies, and build healthier, more supportive relationships.

At Burgess Counselling, our approach to family therapy centers on the emotional support of caregivers and parents. We believe that the individual wellbeing of each family member directly contributes to the health and functioning of the entire family system. By supporting caregivers in a meaningful and active role, we aim to enhance the mental health and relationships within the family unit.
Our therapists work to empower caregivers with tools such as behavior coaching, emotion coaching, and therapeutic communication strategies—including the use of therapeutic apologies. We also help caregivers process and overcome the fears and emotional challenges that can arise when supporting a loved one.

Parent Sessions
Individual or Pairs

A Parent Session a offers a supportive space to explore your relationship with your children and reflect on the emotions and challenges that come with parenting. You'll have the opportunity to identify your strengths and personal values as a parent while gaining insights into your parenting patterns. You'll also learn how to make your parenting more efficient and less overwhelming.
Our sessions help you better understand your child's development and life transitions in relation to their current challenges. Additionally, you'll be introduced to effective techniques like emotion coaching and behaviour coaching, equipping you with tools to navigate your child's emotions and behaviours with confidence.

Parent Support Package
The Parent Package includes 2–3 sessions with a therapist (this can be the same therapist as the child or a different one) and focuses on:
